Designed for Real‑World Learning
Photography becomes more rewarding when you have a place to learn, practice, and grow with guidance. This spring, Cedar & Shore Studio is opening four new hands‑on learning experiences designed for beginners, hobbyists, and developing photographers who want clarity, confidence, and real‑world results.
Whether you’re picking up a camera for the first time or refining your creative skills, these classes offer a supportive environment, small groups, and practical instruction that meets you where you are.
First Light Photography Class for Beginners
If you’re brand new to photography or want a simple, welcoming introduction, this class is the perfect place to start.
You’ll learn the essentials of exposure, composition, and camera handling. All in a relaxed outdoor setting with plenty of time to practice.
You’ll leave with:
- A clear understanding of the exposure triangle
- A simple take‑home cheat sheet covering exposure and composition
- An eye for composition: simple rules that create stronger photos
Designed for: true beginners, retirees, hobbyists, and anyone who learns best by doing.
Niche Beginner Class
Once you understand the basics, it’s time to focus.
Each Niche Beginner Class explores one photographic specialty: landscape, portrait, macro, long exposure, light painting, wildlife, golden hour, and more.
Why it works:
- One topic per outing
- Small groups (maximum 6 people)
- Real‑time coaching while you shoot
- A take‑home cheat sheet and follow‑up tips
Perfect for beginners who want to deepen a specific skill without feeling overwhelmed
Intermediate Outing
For photographers who already feel comfortable with exposure and camera control, the Intermediate Outing offers a deeper dive into technique, creative decision‑making, and field problem‑solving.
You’ll practice:
- Advanced composition
- Natural light and directional light
- Motion control and long exposure
- Model direction (when applicable)
- Workflow refinement in real shooting conditions
This class is ideal for those ready to push their craft further and build confidence in more challenging scenarios.
Private Lessons
If you prefer one‑on‑one learning, flexible scheduling, or help with your specific camera and goals, Private Lessons offer a fully personalized experience.
Great for:
- Gear‑specific questions
- Preparing for a trip or special event
- Troubleshooting your workflow
- Learning at your own pace
Private lessons can take place in the field, in‑studio, or as a hybrid session with shooting and editing combined.
